I have an old box to be used for experimenting with CentOS. Since it's old, it can not boot to USB drive. Optical drive is not an option since all my drive is SATA (obviously the box still use IDE). So i create a partition in my internal hard drive as installation partition. I plug the hard drive to other box, create a small NTFS primary partition at the end of the HD, flag it as bootable, and let the rest of the disk is empty.
- Grub4dos Download Installer 1.1
- Grub4dos Boot Windows 7
- Grub4dos Installer 1.1 Download
- Grub4dos 64
- Grub4dos Command Line
- Grub4dos Installer 1.1 Download
- GRUB4DOS is a bootloader that can be installed by a linux operating system or a Windows operating system and dos and also other OSes. It has compatibility with Grub but it can also be installed on non-linux NTFS/FAT filesystems which are more common on Windows preinstalled PC's.
- To download GRUB4DOS INSTALLER 1 1, click on the Download button You can remove all the menu options if you want - just read the documentation and make your own MyE2B. See for a list of grubinst. Grub4dos allows you to make a multiboot multipass drive.
Grub4dos Installer 1.1 Download set GISFB=0x82B8 4 bytes (double word) to determinewhether the fb start set GFREEM=0x8298 4 bytes (double word) availableextended memory size (in KB).
I guess I can not just copy the CD installer and expecting it to be loaded. So using unetbootin-windows-494.exe I copy CentOS installer to that partition. Now the problem is MBR, since the MBR in the HD is for windows. I replace it with Grub (Using Ubuntu Live CD) but then I realize, how I can update the GRUB, or how to tell the Grub to load the initiate file in the partition.
The file that exist on the partition is this:
Grub4dos Download Installer 1.1
ldlinux.sys
menu.c32
syslinux.cfg
Grub4dos Boot Windows 7
ubnfilel.txt
Grub4dos Installer 1.1 Download
Grub4dos 64
ubninitGrub4dos Command Line
ubnkernubnpathl.txt
and two folder:
Grub4dos Installer 1.1 Download
liveOS
isolinux
I'm guessing one of the file above is either will initiate CentOS live cd or CentOS installer.
What should I do, or how I write an MBR that will load the installer on the partition of internal hard disk.
Any help it will be appreciated.
